XLS-5: Produce Cutback Bitumen On Site at 5 t/h
XLS-5 blends heated base bitumen with paraffin or another approved diluent at a metered ratio, producing prime-coat and cutback bitumen continuously at 5 t/h. Flowmeters and frequency converters hold the formula, a grinding mill homogenizes the blend, and the whole plant fits in a 2.6 × 1.1 × 1.5 m footprint — small enough to slot beside your existing tank farm.
Why Contractors Choose XLS-5
-
Mix Your Own Prime Coat
Producing cutback on site at 5 t/h means the formula, the schedule and the cost are yours — no waiting on outside suppliers for prime-coat material.
-
Metered, Repeatable Ratios
Separate bitumen (4 m³/h) and paraffin (3.3 m³/h) pumps with flowmeters and frequency-converter speed control hold your target ratio batch after batch.
-
Ground-Mill Homogenized
The grinding mill blends bitumen and diluent into a uniform product — no stratified batches, consistent spray behavior on the road.
-
Desk-Sized Footprint
At 2.6 × 1.1 × 1.5 m and under 26.5 kW, XLS-5 installs next to your tanks in days — the smallest production unit in the Feiteng lineup.
Complete Your Cutback Production Line
XLS-5 is the production unit — pair it with the XLC-15000 cutback finished product tank for heated storage of the finished material, and a base bitumen storage tank feeding the line. Producing emulsion rather than cutback? See the GRL-6 emulsion plant and QRL Series (5–20 t/h).
Send us your diluent type, target ratio and output — our engineers will configure the complete line within 24 hours.
Step 1 — Base Bitumen Preparation
Heat base bitumen to production temperature
Base bitumen is held at process temperature in your storage tank, while the thermal-oil heat-tracing line (200–250 °C oil) keeps the supply pipeline warm. Pre-warmed lines mean production starts the moment you open the valves — no clearing solidified bitumen first.
Step 2 — Diluent Check
Confirm paraffin supply and pipeline readiness
Operators verify diluent reserves and the paraffin filter before opening production valves. The filter protects the mill and flowmeters from impurities — a small check that prevents the most common cause of ratio drift.
Step 3 — Sequential Start-Up
Start mill, paraffin pump and bitumen pump in order
The fixed start-up sequence — mill first, then pumps — ensures the mill is never fed while stationary and the blend forms as a controlled flow from the first second. The sequence takes minutes and requires one operator.
Step 4 — Ratio Control
Dial in the target formula on the flowmeters
Bitumen and paraffin flows are adjusted via flowmeters and frequency converters until the target ratio holds steady. Because both streams are metered independently, changing the formula for a different cutback grade is a control adjustment — not a hardware change.
Step 5 — Flushing and Shutdown
Flush the mill with paraffin before stopping
A 10–20 second paraffin flush clears the grinding mill and pipeline before shutdown, so no bitumen residue hardens inside overnight. Tomorrow's start-up is as clean as today's — this small routine is what keeps maintenance minimal.
Main Components
-
Paraffin Supply + Filter
1.5 kW pump at 3.3 m³/h with in-line filter protecting the mill and meters from impurities.
-
Bitumen Supply Pipeline
3 kW pump at 4 m³/h transfers heated base bitumen from your storage tank to the mixing section.
-
Thermal-Oil Heat Tracing
Keeps the bitumen pipeline and process sections at working temperature throughout production.
-
Grinding Mill
Homogenizes bitumen and diluent into a uniform cutback product — no stratification in storage.
-
Flowmeters + Frequency Converters
Independent metering of both streams with pump speed control — the heart of ratio accuracy.
-
Finished Product Output
Transfers finished cutback to the XLC-15000 finished product tank or your loading system.

Applications
-
Cutback Bitumen Production
Produce MC/SC-type cutback grades on site with a controlled, documented ratio for every batch.
-
Prime Coat Preparation
Road projects that consume prime-coat material daily save the supplier premium by mixing it themselves.
-
Batch Production to Storage
Run batches on your schedule and transfer finished product to a heated tank for use across the week.

XLS-5 FAQ
What is XLS-5 used for?
Producing cutback bitumen and prime-coat material by mixing heated base bitumen with paraffin or another approved diluent at a metered ratio — 5 t/h output.
Does the system require heated bitumen?
Yes. Base bitumen must be at production temperature and the supply pipeline preheated — the built-in thermal-oil heat tracing handles the pipeline side.
Can I change the cutback formula?
Yes. Both streams are independently metered, so switching grades is a flowmeter and pump-speed adjustment, not a hardware change.
Do I need a finished product tank?
Most projects pair XLS-5 with the XLC-15000 heated finished product tank so batches can be produced ahead of use. Tell us your storage need and we quote the line together.
What are the payment terms?
Usually T/T: 30% down payment, balance before delivery. L/C is also accepted. Trade terms: EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF.
How long is the delivery time?
About 20 days of production time after the down payment is received.
What warranty and after-sales support do you provide?
One-year quality warranty after delivery, with online support included. We can also dispatch engineers for installation, commissioning and operator training.
